EARLY-STAGE STARTUP / UPDATED SEPTEMBER 2026

The first-MVP stack by stage.

A startup does not need an “ultimate stack.” It needs enough infrastructure to answer the next irreversible question with the least money and time.

The stack follows the evidence.

Before demand, build evidence collection. After a convincing problem signal, build the smallest usable product. After usage, instrument behaviour. After repeated interest, create a sales and payment system. Stage—not fashion—determines the tool.

Links go directly to providers. If a link later earns commission, Launchlane will disclose it; it never changes our recommendation or your price.

01 / EXPLORE

Evidence before software

Interviews, a structured form and a one-page proposition. The output is a decision: stop, revise or test further.

02 / VALIDATE

A credible place to say yes

A focused landing page, waitlist, demo request or pre-order route. Count behaviour—not compliments.

03 / MVP

Build the smallest complete loop

The product should let one target user complete the core job. Add infrastructure only when the loop requires it.

04 / SIGNAL

See what users actually do

Instrument the activation event, failed paths and retention. Do not bury a small signal under a giant dashboard.

Explore PostHog ↗

Add these only when the MVP is pulling.

These tools are useful extensions, not a launch checklist. Each has a clear moment where it earns its cost.

05 / HOSTING

Scale a more involved web product

Cloudways is worth comparing when deployments, performance or a production WordPress-style setup outgrow simple shared hosting.

06 / OPERATIONS

Run serious web work cleanly

20i fits a more established site or client-facing web operation. It is not necessary for an unproven landing page.

07 / BRAND

Make the first identity usable

Zoviz can help create a practical starter brand kit once the positioning is clear. Do not mistake a logo for validation.

08 / SEARCH

Turn customer language into content

Serpstat becomes useful once you have a proven offer and need a repeatable SEO research and tracking workflow.

Money and formation come after the route is clear.

A merchant of record such as Paddle can simplify software payments and tax handling, subject to approval. Company-formation providers can be useful for founders who truly need a US entity, but formation is not a growth strategy. Choose legal and payment infrastructure based on customers, residency, banking access and qualified advice.

THE RULE

Build the cheapest experiment that could honestly change the decision.
